Northwestern men’s soccer advanced once again in the NCAA Tournament, this time by knocking out the No. 7 seed Marquette Golden Eagles 1-0 on Sunday evening in Milwaukee.

Freshman Joey Calistri, the Wildcats’ leading scorer with nine goals, struck 30 minutes into the match. A free kick from junior Scott Lakin was played to Calistri at the top of the box, and he one-timed it into the top right corner.

After finding the net, the ‘Cats turned on the defense, as they allowed just two shots on goal in the entire match. Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Miller and the Wildcats recorded their tenth shutout of the season, as well as holding Marquette to their first scoreless match this year.

Northwestern will head to Louisville on Nov. 25 to take on the No. 10 seed Cardinals, who advanced by thrashing Winthrop 5-0 on Sunday.
