Now that everyone has finished joining sororities and fraternities, we can turn back to more important things, like on-campus arts and culture. Fill your calendar with this week’s events.
Jan. 20
B-Fest
What’s a better way to start off the week than with some of the worst movies ever made? A&O Productions is hosting its annual 24-hour showing of B-movies. It’s perfect for when you feel like you really messed up that paper, because at least you didn’t make one of the worst movies of all time. 6 p.m., McCormick Auditorium. $30 for Northwestern students, with six-hour block tickets sold at the door for $5.
The Dolphin Show: Little Shop of Horrors
If bad movies aren’t your thing then try singing, man-eating plants. The 75th annual Dolphin Show, Northwestern’s nationally recognized student-run production, is opening this week with the Broadway musical Little Shop of Horrors. 7:30 p.m., Cahn Auditorium. $10 to $35. Also Jan. 21, 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 22 at 2 p.m.
Chicago(ish) spotlight: Andrew Bird with The Lumineers on the Cleopatra tour
If you’re feeling a trip off campus to escape the work you have to do, go see multi-talented musician Andrew Bird (Music ’96) open for The Lumineers. Let the folk rock tunes soothe your mind and get your head straight for the rest of the week. 7 p.m., Allstate Arena (Rosemont). $29.50 to $203.
Jan. 21
Opening of Reflecting Memory
Don’t forget to stop by the Mary & Leigh Block Museum of Art and check out Kader Attia’s exhibit exploring ideas of slavery and xenophobia in our modern time. Take your friends with you to stay warm and woke. Artist talk 2 p.m., Block Museum. Open Jan. 21 to April 16. Free.
