Shayna Servillas, a Weinberg freshman, prepares a brush with paint to start a picture frame for her family in Boca Raton, Florida.
“It’s kind of like a P90X theme,” says Vaishali Mehta, a Weinberg junior. Vaishali, a member of Northwestern’s Raas dance team, made posters for their Saturday performance at the SASA show, “Straight Outta Delhi”.
“Here’s a flower and now I’m starting on a tree,” says Weinberg freshman Sophia Lencioni. She is planning to send her finished creation to her parents in Mexico City.
Participants munched on some croissant sandwiches while they styled their art. Some made edible artwork by carefully covering fruit and pound cake with chocolate fondue.
SESP senior Sanchita Kanthadai, and Medill junior Marissa Mizroch color their cards. The two attended ARTica’s event with other members of the Global Engagement Summit. “We sort of stumbled on this [event],” says Kanthadai.
Students decorated coloring pages, picture frames, mugs, plates and buttons with unique messages for the special people in their lives.

Valentine's Day is in a week, and "Can't Buy Me Love," sang The Beatles.
A variety of students took that attitude to heart at ARTica Studio’s “Love Cafe” event Friday night, creating crafts for family and friends in the spirt of Valentine’s Day. The Norris Underground venue offered participants a selection of supplies for little to no cost, as well as a spread of fancy finger foods.
