A female student was punched in the face during an attempted robbery at approximately 11:55 p.m. Wednesday night, according to an NU security alert.

The offender approached the student from behind in the 2000 block of Pratt Court in Evanston. He then punched her and attempted to take her cell phone but failed and ran from the area. No weapon was displayed and the student suffered minor injuries. The e-mail alert sent to the Northwestern Community early Thursday morning described the offender as a younger white male, 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet, wearing dark pants and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Both the Evanston and the University Police Departments arrived on the scene but the search for the offender was unsuccessful.

The NUPD advises all community members to be alert while travelling on or off campus and to contact them at 847-491-3456 with any information that may assist in this investigation.
