Updated 10/1/10 11:56 p.m. CST: The east-west crosswalk to the Arch is now open.
The crosswalk heading east and west across Sheridan Rd. near the Arch will be closed to pedestrian traffic Friday, Vice President for University Relations Alan Cubbage said. Students trying to cross Sheridan from the Arch will have to walk to the Alice Millar Chapel side of the street first, then cross Chicago Ave.
It is unclear how long the crosswalk will be closed. Cubbage said he did not have a timetable for its reopening, but Andrew McGonigle, a Northwestern Facilities Management project manager, said it will only be closed Friday.
