You know you’ll be rolling up your broccoli on Dillo Day – and Mayfest does too, since the group announced D.R.A.M. as Dillo’s daytime headliner. D.R.A.M. will perform second on the main stage accompanied by his usual live producer, DJ Daf, along with a live band.

The rapper and singer, born Shelley Marshaun Massenburg-Smith, skyrocketed to fame with his party hit “Broccoli,” featuring rapper Lil Yachty. D.R.A.M. stands for “Does. Real. Ass. Music.,” which he proved he does with his critically acclaimed debut, Big Baby D.R.A.M. He’s also worked on Chicago native Chance the Rapper’s album Coloring Book, and, more recently, alternative rock band Gorillaz’s comeback album Humanz. This summer, he will open for 2012 Dillo performer Kendrick Lamar on the DAMN. tour.

“D.R.A.M. brings a fresh joyful side to the rap scene and is sure to add to the youthful energy of Dillo Day,” Mayfest said in a press release. “The rhythms of ‘Broccoli’ and ‘Cha Cha’ are sure to get the campus dancing on the Lakefill and we can’t wait to be a part of that.”

Mayfest previously announced alternative-electronic duo MGMT will nighttime headline the festival’s main stage, electronic dance producer Gramatik will be the second-to-last mainstage act and rapper Little Simz will perform third on the main stage. Student DJ duo onnij x ouyang, who won the Battle of the DJs, will likely perform before Gramatik, and Mayfest will add a student band to the mainstage lineup after Thursday’s Battle of the Bands. If you’re keeping track, that leaves one more mainstage artist to be announced, along with the WNUR stage.

Student and guest wristband registration is open on the Norris Box Office website. Dillo Day, the largest student-run annual music festival in the country, takes place May 20 on the Lakefill.
