Off-campus drinks a go-go
By

You’re delighted with your Irish Coffee from Norbucks, but you want to trek into town and see what you can drink there, too. Here’s the second part to wrap up where you can sit back with your cocktail to-go:

    Argo Tea
If you’re missing your study abroad in Spain, go to Argo and order the Sangria Tea, and add red wine and a little brandy.

The Red Velvet Tea comes with raspberry and white chocolate and would probably hit the spot as a dessert drink. Just add a little raspberry vodka, or another dessert liqueur, and mix. If you want a peppermint patty drink (even though the cocktail probably isn’t as fun as the shot), just order the Chocolate Mint tea, and add vodka or peppermint schnapps.

    Edzo’s
Edzo’s is the perfect place for cocktails on the go. Not only can you pick up a drink, you can grab a wonderful burger before you’re smashed and in line at Burger King. An Edzo’s burger is really something you could probably appreciate a bit more with a beverage, or, if you’re in to the greasy goodness that is their assortment of fries, try the lobster fries (while they’re still there) or the cheese fries.

Try the Nutella Shake with amaretto for more nutty, chocolatey goodness, or the Cookies and Cream Shake with a little creme de cacao and vanilla schnapps for a play on the cookies’n’creme shot. And if you’re looking for a caffeine fix, try the Mocha Shake with Kahlua for a late night, I-can’t-decide-whether-I’m-partying-or-studying treat.

The only tragedy about Edzo’s is that it closes just as happy hour begins. Maybe the gods of college, in their divine wisdom, thought it best that never the twain shall meet. I guess they just didn’t predict the promethean gift of Cheesie’s. Or the fact that day-drinking exists.

    Kafein
If you want a late night shake, Kafein is definitely the place to go. Try the Grasshopper Shake with crème de menthe and crème de cacao for the classic dessert cocktail, the  White Mocha Shake with cake vodka, or the Nutty Professor Shake with amaretto or caramel vodka.

If you want to order a hot drink and add Kahlua or another after-dinner licquer, more power to you, but the syrups they add to their drinks are heavy enough as it is, and they might end up oversweet.

If you want to get together with some friends for an alcoholic smorgasbord (i.e. you all have a little booze, but no one has a lot), order the Mama’s Two-Timin’, which is mixed iced tea and lemonade, and make your own Long Island iced tea.

And finally, it would be silly to mention Kafein without talking about the Zombie. With a three shots of espresso, you can add Bailey’s or Jameson and make your own Four Loko, even if it might be a bit unhealthy.

    Aguas Tortas
As the weather improves (or global warming gets worse), the iced drinks at Aguas Tortas can serve as refreshing starters for cocktails. If you like horchata, spike it with rum for a summer version of eggnog.

Rum would also go well with the jamaica, which has a sweet and tangy taste. The jamaica can go well with the liquor of your choice, so stock up on it before your friends come over so you can have something else besides C-store orange juice to drink before hitting the quads.
