Members of the Northwestern Crew team painted today’s Rock, and are hosting their annual Erg-a-thon fundraiser in front of the campus landmark from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. From the team Web site:
“Every winter the team moves the rowing machines (ergs) from the basement of Patten Gym to the Rock. Rowers take turn erging in one-hour shifts throughout the day with the goal of rowing five-hundred miles collectively. During the day, the team hosts contests, sells refreshments, and entertains the student body and visiting families. Donations from sponsors and onlookers are put primarily toward deferring the cost of the team’s spring training trip.”
