Northwestern in names: from abolition to racism

    On Thursday, The Native American and Indeginous Student Alliance reintroduced a petition to strike John Evans' name from campus buildings, in light of his role in the Sand Creek Massacre that killed 163 unarmed Native American men, women and children on November 28, 1864. But Evans is not the only controversial figure whose name marks the schools and halls of Northwestern University.  North By Northwestern took a look at the good, bad and ugly of the men and women whose names we walk by everyday, from abolitionists, to civil rights activists, to racist suffragists.
