On the outdoor courts at Northwestern’s Vandy Christie Tennis Center, the men’s tennis team (18-8, 4-5 Big Ten) fell to No. 5 Ohio State (26-2, 9-0) by a score of 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Raleigh Smith, the No. 2 singles seed, grabbed Northwestern’s only point with a 6-2, 3-5, 6-4 win over Ohio State’s Peter Kobelt, but it came after the Buckeyes had already clinched the victory with a 6-0 lead.

Each of the Buckeyes’ three doubles teams won its first set to give them the first point of the match, and they kept on rolling from there. Northwestern’s Spencer Wolf, Sidarth Balaji, Mihir Kumar, Alex Pasareanu and Chris Jackman all lost in straight sets to an Ohio State team that hasn’t conceded a match since Feb. 17.

The Wildcats will stick around for another home match this Friday against Purdue.
