University announces a rise in tuition costs
Starting Fall Quarter, Northwestern will increase undergraduate tuition and room and board costs by 3.8 percent in order to fulfill financial aid needs of incoming students and additional university endeavors. The additional revenue will fund undergraduate research, leadership and civic engagement programs, academic buildings and athletic and recreational facilities among others. The University expects to distribute around $151 million in scholarships and grants to entering undergraduates.
Female Muslim chaplain honored at the White House
To commemorate Women’s History Month, Associate Chaplain Tahera Ahmad was recognized at the White House as a prominent female Muslim leader in the United States. Ahmad is the University’s first Muslim chaplain and one of very few female Muslim chaplains that represent universities across the nation. Ahmad not only worked with Secretary of State John Kerry on faith-based community efforts, but she also attended a Ramadan dinner hosted by President Barack Obama and facilitated conversation on the role of Muslim women in public affairs.
Notable guest artists will perform at Northwestern
This spring, Bienen School of Music will host a number of artists to play at concerts on the Evanston campus. Some guest artists include the United States Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants, the Prism Quartet, famous pianists and guitarist Rovshan Mamedkuliev. Tickets for the events will be available to the general public, full-time students and Northwestern faculty and staff.
