Law school team wins regionals
Northwestern’s Bartlit Center for Trial Strategy beat teams from Chicago-Kent College of Law, University of Illinois, Loyola University Chicago and Indian University to win the Midwest Regional competition. In the fall, Northwestern Law won first place in the California Association of Criminal Justice Invitational. The Bartlit trial team will compete at the National Trial Competition in March in Austin, Texas.
Y.O.U. raises over $250,000 at annual benefit
Northwestern Community Development Corps program Y.O.U. raised more than $250,000 with the help of 200 community members at its 43rd Annual Benefit on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Evanston Golf Club. The funds will maintain and develop their programs at Oakton and Washington Elementary Schools, which will lose federal funding by the end of this year. Y.O.U will additionally utilize the funding to continue to help families and their children succeed in education.
Northwestern and Evanston offer employment program
Northwestern and the City of Evanston introduced a program for employment opportunities to city residents. The Workforce Development Program will provide 25 jobs to residents seeking employment on campus construction projects. Contractors of Northwestern University’s Facility Management Division will hire Evanston community members and will spend $1 million annually with local businesses.
