So, you know how us college students are destroying the film industry through illegal downloading, what with our flimsy morals and access to high speed Internet? Yeah, not so much.
The red-face MPAA admitted that a 2005 study blaming college students for 44 percent of movie piracy was wrong because of “human error.” They’re now readjusting that figure to 15 percent. Mark Lukas, vice-president of the national IT group Educause said the original number was meant to shock colleges into making a difference, but the new one shows that any crackdown won’t do a whole lot.
15 percent? Really, guys, we should be ashamed of ourselves. We can cause way more damage than that.
