Mayfest and RHA announce OK Go as Dillo Day Main Stage opener
By

One day after a set of familiar treadmills myseriously appeared on the Dillo Day homepage, Mayfest and the Northwestern University Residential Hall Association officially confirmed OK Go as the Main Stage opening act, playing from 1:30-2:30 pm. The band's last time on campus was for an event sponsored by the Center for the Writing Arts in 2008 and the A&O Fall Blowout the previous fall.

This Chicago-based rock band released their eponymous debut in 2002, but first made it big with the release of their music videos for "A Million Ways" (2006) and "Here It Goes Again" (2007), which both became fan favorites for the fun videos and catchy music. They had also previously served as touring band for NU alum Ira Glass's This American Life for several years.

"OK Go is a band that everyone knows the name of, but we did not want to fall back on this throwback idea," Concerts Co-Chair Michael Bass said. "They're releasing a new album, starting a huge national tour right after Dillo, and working with an unparalleled live performance with gizmos and gadgets."

Northwestern's RHA has worked with Mayfest for several years to co-sponsor Dillo Day acts, including headliner Wiz Khalifa in 2013 and penultimate act Big Boi in 2012.

"We’re excited to be able to contribute to a campus tradition that is so integral to the Northwestern experience for RHA students," said James Pisano and Andy Niederschulte, RHA Co-Presidents.

Known for their incredibly entertaining and innovative style, OK Go will be bringing a similar creative musical energy to the Lakefill as the opener for the day, following the winners of Battle of the Bands. We just hope they'll bring these adorable dogs with them.
