Forty years ago, Northwestern students rallied together for a strike that would make history. Or at least a Wikipedia mention. Part of a nationwide protest of the Vietnam War, the cause drew thousands of students and resulted in the canceling of classes from May 6-13. In honor of the 40th anniversary of the strike, we take a look back at the impact of one of our university’s most epic examples of the power of student organizing and what it means for campus leaders today.
