Katie Penrod, Joseph's sister, spoke to dancers during Block 3 on behalf of Team Joseph. She encouraged dancers to keep their energy up during the night. NBN asked dancers how they reacted to the speech.

“I’m usually not an emotional person but I felt emotions.”
    Danny Callison, Weinberg sophomore

“She did a very, very good job connecting with college kids. I was pretty impressed.”
    Drew Rubin, Weinberg sophomore

“It just makes it so much more impactful. Dancing for 30 hours really means something.”
    Alex Ng, McCormick junior

“She was awesome. She was really inspiring. I didn’t think that a lot of those boys [with Duchenne’s] would kill to be in our position.”
    Samantha Sterling, Weinberg sophomore

“It definitely put into perspective why we’re dancing.”
    Robin Schneider, Weinberg sophomore

“She’s so mature and it's wild how something like Duchenne’s in the family can make someone grow up so fast.”
    Frank Montana, Weinberg junior
