On Saturday, Northwestern’s four-game winning streak sputtered to a stop in Champaign, Ill., but not before the Wildcats upset Indiana for perhaps their biggest win of the year. Tre Demps dropped 23 points as Northwestern held the Big Ten’s top-ranked offense scoreless for 10 minutes and six seconds in the second half.
But the inspirational victory made Northwestern’s performance at Illinois all the more disappointing. Illinois took an early 18-5 lead and blew out the Wildcats, 86-60.

The women’s week was no less wild. On Thursday, they clinched an 8-0 record in February, dismantling No. 23 Rutgers 80-60 behind a 19-point performance from Ashley Deary.
Maryland halted Northwestern’s streak, however. The fourth-ranked Terrapins swept into Welsh-Ryan and treated the ‘Cats as they have their other Big Ten opponents this year, beating Northwestern 69-48.
Grade: The Wildcats couldn’t unseat Maryland, but they finish the season slotted 24th in the Associated Press poll, a continuation of their first ranking in 19 years. A-

Northwestern's poor start to the season continued this weekend in Hammond, La. The Southeastern Louisiana Lions swept the Wildcats in three games, dropping Northwestern to 1-9 on the year. They fell behind 9-0 in the opener Saturday, and blew a lead with two outs in the bottom of the ninth on Sunday.

No. 7 Northwestern fell 12-11 to No. 2 North Carolina in the last five minutes for their second loss of the season. Bridget Bianco recorded a season-high 13 saves and freshmen Corinne Wessels scored four points in her collegiate debut, but 14 turnovers ultimately undid the Cats.

Men's Tennis
No. 20 Northwestern rolled through unranked Middle Tennessee State, sweeping all three doubles matches en route to a 6-1 victory. They improved to 8-5 on the season, though they're still searching for the first in-conference win of the year.
Grade: The 'Cats were expected to win, but there’s something to be said about just doing your job. A
