Gossip Girl: "You've Got Yale"
By

A complete 180 from the drama of last week, GG brings college back into the equation with Yale early-decision results being announced. You know, despite the fact that all ED letters are mailed out Dec. 15, in the GG-verse things work a little differently. And of course no other universities are accepting people now, because there is only Yale.

    Summary

Serena and Dan both get into Yale, but Blair gets waitlisted and freaks out. Serena declines Yale because she realizes she feels better at Brown and so that Blair can get in. But that pisses Dan off; things have been kind of rocky with Rufus and Lily being super couple-y and awkward all the time. Blair gets her first B from the new Shakespeare teacher, Rachel, and decides to get revenge in typical Waldorf-fashion. It backfires, however, when Rachel tells the headmistress and gets Blair in super-detention: If she doesn’t complete it, her Yale admission will be suspended indefinitely. Chuck and Lily form an alliance to take down Jack. Lily legally adopts Chuck, becoming his guardian and taking the company away from Jack, who then freaks out and tries to rape her. Chuck saves her, though, and decides to move back in with the family. Things between Rufus and Lily look great and PDA-ful, while things between Dan and Serena look to be going downhill. They don’t break up, but Dan ignores her call to talk to Rachel at the gallery…this does not bode well. Oh, and Nate and Vanessa go to the opera, but nothing interesting or important happens. Just more class barrier problems — I feel like their relationship won’t last too much longer at this rate.

    Thoughts

    • I almost feel bad for Rachel. Annoying Blair is bad enough but making her declare an all-out war? That girl is going to be destroyed.
    • But her new-teacher character is super lame. “I’m from Iowa, I’m so small-town, is Brooklyn that thing across the bridge?” Who are you, really? If she and Dan end up getting together, I will just die.
    • Why did everyone freak out about getting in ED? Being waitlisted ED isn’t the worst thing ever, especially since Blair is a legacy anyway. Also, does the headmistress actually have the power to get Yale to suspend their decision?
    • There was no Chuck/Blair interaction at all. This hurts me, they can’t just leave us hanging like that! They’re one of the main reasons I watch this show, and this does not look good for their future. The Chuck/Lily heart-to-heart was super cute though, really heartwarming. I love happy Chuck.
    • Rufus and Lily used to be cute, but now they just disgust me. First, they make things awkward and creepy for DS, which will probably lead to another break-up. And their PDA is gross now that I see them through the eyes of their children — I would not want to see my parents doing that. And Bart died a month ago, soon much? P.S. you can really tell that Lily’s pregnant in real life.
    • I hate Nate’s slicked back hair, why would they bring that back ever? I sense him and Vanessa won’t last too long, since class differences apparently are too hard to overcome. Also ’cause I have a horrible feeling that Nate and Blair are going to get back together, despite the epic-ness that is Chair.
    • The picture of Dan and Serena kissing at the debutante ball…..who took that picture?

    Quotes

  • Blair: Dan Humphrey? He’s like a cafeteria lady who won the lottery. You couldn’t pry that acceptance from his hands with the jaws of life.
  • Serena: If I get in and Blair doesn’t…
  • Dan: Fire and brimstone and a lot of bitchy asides. Death by Dorota?
  • Next week

They’re replaying “O Brother, Where Bart Thou?”?! If they’re starting to replay episodes, I guess that means I’ll be out of things to recap for the next few weeks. And the suspense will probably kill me by then.
