    These guys work hard.

Between the 7 a.m. workouts every morning and the practices every afternoon, it’s amazing they can even keep track of what day it is.

Even though they aren’t playing regular matches, the team still travels to tournaments. Right now, they’re wrapping up the Big Ten Singles Championships and on Oct. 16 to 19 they played in the ITA Midwest Regionals.

Until the regular season actually begins in January, they’ll play one more tournament, the ITA National Indoor Championships, and keep on working to improve.

We had the opportunity to put a GoPro on two players – School of Communication senior Alberto Zanotti and Weinberg senior Alex Pasareanu – during one of their practices to show a typical day in the life of the men’s tennis team. They’re in search of their first Big Ten title since 1990 and are in poised to contend with the best that the Big Ten has to offer.

After only graduating one senior last year, the team has a surplus of young talent, including Weinberg sophomore Sam Shropshire, who was a First-Team All-Big Ten selection last season, along with Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He enters this season ranked No. 78 in the country.

“I think last year was pretty good, but we are really re-vamping this year,” Shropshire said. ”The workouts and the fitness and also playing doubles, we are always trying to improve. We’ve been doing a lot during the fall to get ready.”
