Luke Donald (WCAS ’01), a former collegiate No. 1 golfer, beat incumbent No. 1 world golfer Martin Kaymer on Sunday in Marana, Ariz. at the World Golf Championship in a dominant performance. The win marks his first victory in the U.S. since the 2006 Honda Classic.

Despite troublesome weather that dropped a layer of snow over the playing grounds, Donald played nearly flawlessly, so much so that Kaymer conceded the championship match after the 16th hole after falling behind by three strokes and struggling with his putts.

The victory moves the Englishman up to the No. 3 ranking in the world, while the German-born Kaymer maintains his hold on the No. 1 ranking.
