Kellogg Distinguished Series and Business Leadership Club is sponsoring a talk with the 74th United States Secretary of the Treasury Henry M. Paulson, Jr. on Jan. 18 from 5:15pm-6:15pm in the Owen L. Coon Forum.

Paulson has been at the forefront of the current financial situation. “He led the U.S. in the global response crisis and coordinated all the activities to help mitigate the problem,” said Business Leadership Club president Bill Shields.

Appointed to the position in 2006 by President George W. Bush, Paulson was behind one of the largest government economic interventions in American history. The former Treasury Secretary was a moving force behind the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, commonly referred to as the bank bailout, which allowed the government to purchase $700 billion in troubled bank assets.

Aside from serving as U.S. Treasuring Secretary, Paulson has also served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs, and was runner-up for TIME magazine’s person of the year for 2008. He is currently a visiting fellow at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul. H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.

“He is an incredibly notable person, and we’re looking forward to getting his wonderful voice in front of the students,” said Meg Washburn, Kellogg Director of Public Relations.
