Former Gov. Ryan headed to prison
By

Former Illinois Gov. George Ryan lost his latest (but probably not last) bid to stay out of jail today. He was convicted last spring of corruption for giving away contracts to his friends and using political resources for himself. He had appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court to stay out on bail, but the high court rejected it, so Ryan’s off to prison for 6 and a half years. Still, don’t expect this to be the last you hear of Ryan–he’s going to keeping this legal drama going at every opportunity he’s got.
