Forget Facebook stalking to try and find the name of the girl who sits in front of you in Intro to Psych, try creating an entire web page. That’s exactly what Patrick Moberg, a 21 year old web page designer, did…and it worked…or so they claim.
The Age, a Melbourne-based paper, reported a story a few days ago on a New York City boy who, after seeing a pretty girl on the subway, set out to find her in a city of 8 million people.
“‘We, like, half made eye contact a few times,’ he said ‘Right as the train stopped she got up and, like, everyone else rushed in between us. We made eye contact, really solid eye contact . . . and, right when the words were going to leave my mouth, she was off the train.’”
Moberg’s webpage, Nygirlofmydreams.com, featured a cartoon drawing of his dream girl as well as his phone number. Luckily, one of the girl’s co-workers found the page and was able to identify her as Camille Hayton, an aspiring actress and writer.
Camille and Moberg recently appeared on ABC News to tell their story.
While I could give my own commentary, I think a commenter on Reddit, a news and social networking website, says it best:
“And the best part is, it can’t be a hoax: why would an aspiring actress want publicity? Why would a web consultant want to demonstrate his skills at manipulating social web sites and the media? The only answer could be honest-to-goodness love.”
Destiny? Love at first sight? Clever marketing scheme? Who knows.
