Why? Because soon you won’t be able to. Yep, Polaroid, the film manufacture of choice for hipsters across the nation, announced last week that they plan to stop production on their instant film line. After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2001, the company has been slowly restructured to focus on digital cameras and printers. Almost a year ago, Polaroid stopped making their instant cameras. The move to stop the production of such film was the next logical step.
As much as I want a piece of me to die from hearing this news, I can’t remember the last time I took a Polaroid. I remember my family having one as a kid, but the film was so expensive that we never used it. Still, my heart goes out to all the American Apparel models. What will you do with your sweatshop-free lives now? Don’t worry, we can still shake it like a Polaroid picture in our hearts.
