Sarah Koenig kept the nation on the edge of its seat as the host of the investigative podcast Serial, but today she encouraged dancers to stay off their seats and keep dancing by appearing in a special video during Block 8. Here are five fast facts about the podcast host.
1. She graduated from the University of Chicago. Maybe the next season of Serial can focus on who killed fun on that campus.
2. She’s reported in Russia. ABC hired her to work as a reporter in the station’s Moscow bureau. She also covered Russia for The New York Times.
3.She won a Peabody Award. Koenig began working for NPR in 2004 as producer for This American Life. In 2006, This American Life won a Peabody for the show “Habeas Schmabeas.”
4. She’s “Influential.” In 2015, TIME named Koenig one of the “100 Most Influential People.” That same year, Forward put her on the “Forward 50,” which honors Jewish Americans “who have made a significant impact on the Jewish story in the past year."
5. She made a guest appearance on Bojack Horseman. Koening voiced herself on everybody’s favorite animated tragicomedy about a talking horse. She was the ringtone for Alison Brie's character, Diane.
