The Parks and Recreation actor, who used to build sets for the Theatre Department at NU, graced the DM screen during Block 6. Truly a Blockbuster. Here are five things you need to know about Ron Swanson - um, Nick Offerman.
1. He was A&O’s winter speaker in 2015. After leaving Pick-Staiger, Offerman could’ve driven an hour to visit his parents: He grew up in Minooka, Illinois, and poked fun at this on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
2. He was a mischief-maker in college. At the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he and his roommate would dress as carpenters and dismantle as many library tables as possible.
3. He owns a wood shop in Los Angeles. The subject of Offerman’s 2016 book Good Clean Fun, Offerman Woodshop makes fancy furniture, kazoos and pinball machines.
4. He is married to Northwestern alumna and Will & Grace star Megan Mullally. She went up against Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Speech ‘83) to play Elaine Benes on Seinfeld. We know how that went.
5. One of his next projects is a crafting show with Amy Poehler.Making It will premiere in July on NBC, featuring DIY challenges.
