The Wildcats may not be having the best season, but basketball fans, don't fret. The Contemporary Thought Speaker Series announced tonight it will bring Daryl Morey (McCormick '96), general manager of the Houston Rockets, to speak on campus.
Morey will speak in conversation with J.A. Adande, Medill's director of sports journalism. The two will focus on basketball today along with sports data analytics. The event takes place on Jan. 17 at 5:15 p.m. in the McCormick Foundation Center Forum. There are no tickets, and seating is first come, first serve.
The Rockets have not finished a season with a losing record since Morey became their manager in 2007. They look to continue that streak this year with a current record of 29-11.
Morey is known in basketball for using data analytics in scouting and drafting players. Adande reported on basketball for ESPN.com as a columnist and sideline reporter for nine years. The talk will be CTSS's first sports-focused event.
