Northwestern publicly opened its doors to Evanston residents Saturday with a host of arts and crafts, music and speeches to “showcase all that Northwestern has to share with its Evanston and greater metro area neighbors,” said Lucile Krasnow, NU’s special assistant for community relations.
Krasnow founded and planned the event to bring together “every department you could think of” at Northwestern to plan the activities, which went on for about four hours Saturday.
Some residents and students at the events expressed reservations about Evanston-Northwestern relations in the video below.
“We have an impact on the community,” Krasnow said. “Sometimes that creates problems, whether it’s students disrupting at 2 a.m. or events that are going on up at our stadium. There are issues you can find in any university town.”
