The Women’s Tennis team had a split squad this week, with four players at the ITA All-American Championships in California and the rest of the team representing Northwestern at the Wildcat Invitational in Evanston.

Sophomore Manon Peri and senior Lok Sze Leung are playing singles, then pairing up to play doubles at the championship, which runs until Oct. 5. Sophomore Maddie Lipp and junior Alicia Barnett are playing doubles.

Back at the Wildcat Invitational, freshman Erin Larner won all of her sets, and then teamed up with sophomore Brooke Rischbieth for a win over a pair from Michigan State. Northwestern is traveling to the University of Virginia for their next tournament on Oct. 10.

    Golf

Junior Kaitlin Park earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week status after leading the Wildcats at Annika Intercollegiate in Orlando. Park finished 18th in the tournament followed by her teammate Suchaya Tangkamolprasert. Senior Hana Lee had the strongest final round for the ‘Cats, putting her in 29th place overall. Freshman Hannah Kim finished 4th for Northwestern at the second tournament of her collegiate career.

Northwestern was a contender for the win until the last day of play, when they dropped to 7th overall. But the inaugural tournament featured the best of the best, with ten of last year’s top 18 teams represented. Northwestern was one of these teams; the ‘Cats finished 10th last year.

Catch the golf team in action next Monday and Tuesday in Wilmette at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. Many of the teams that played Annika will also be competing in what is sure to be another exciting matchup.
