Britney Spears officially crazy; Ledger video questions death
By

Britney Spears has allegedly attempted suicide, according to Perez Hilton. Around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night, police and an LAPD helicopter surrounded Spears’ house in a scene reminiscent of her Jan. 4 standoff with officials, which ended with Spears’ being admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Spears’ mother, Lynne Spears, rushed to the home upon learning the news. Lynne later told X17 that “Britney is fine.”

An ambulance left the Spears’ home shortly after 1 a.m. A psychiatrist who has been caring for Spears has allegedly had the former pop star temporarily committed. Spears is in a psychiatric hold at an unknown hospital for at least 72 hours.

Hopefully the troubled celebrity can get the help she deserves. After multiple police standoffs, it’s time Brit got psychiatric assistance. She’s skipped out on rehab before — maybe this time the 12-step program can make a difference.

Video of Heath Ledger at a drug-fueled party is making the tabloid rounds. In the video, Ledger says he “used to smoke 20 joints a day.” The video adds new speculation as to the cause of the celebrity’s death.

News joints such as Entertainment Tonight are refusing to air the video out of respect for Ledger’s family.

After enduring media scrutiny, Ledger’s family and Michelle Williams, the mother of his child, deserve a brief distance from further inquiry. The video raises questions about the cause of Ledger’s death, but certain tabloids are making the right decision by refraining from airing the video.
