Baseball demolished by Indiana
By

It was an ugly game in Bloomington as Indiana proved why they’re ranked No. 10 in the nation with a 22-1 (no, we did not accidentally press the "2" button twice) blowout win over Northwestern. For those keeping score at home, that's eight more than the Hoosiers scored in their football game against us.

Indiana found itself on the board quickly with a two-RBI single to right from the bat of Drew Ashley in the bottom of the second, stealing the momentum and never letting go. The Indiana bats never halted, building on their lead with two more runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Northwestern’s only run of the game came in the fifth inning when junior Jack Dunn smacked a two-out double to the left-center field gap to bring home sophomore Kyle Burnett Jr. and make the score 6-1. The double would be one of only five Northwestern hits on the game as the ‘Cats continued their season-long struggles from the plate.

Up 10-1 entering the seventh inning, Indiana put together their two most powerful innings of the night with a 4-spot in the seventh followed by an 8-spot in the eighth to reach the final score of 22-1.

Despite lacking offensive efforts as a team, Jack Claeys had a strong offensive performance going two for three from the plate with a pair of singles and a walk.

Coming off of the tough loss to Indiana, Northwestern looks to get back on track against Milwaukee on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Wildcats will resume Big Ten play on Saturday as they host Michigan State.
