Autumn
By

    Bright yellow sunflowers
    Smiling, blooming
    Dark, threatening rain
    A menace in the distance;
Two squirrels run after each other,
    Playing like children.
A spider captures its prey in its winding web
    And devours it.
The sun peers out from behind the clouds like
    A curious little girl.
    She smiles a cheeky smile
And then hides again, behind the clouds.
A tree’s branches twist and wind like a meandering road,
    Treacherous,
    But an image of beauty.
Light-shimmer dust falls in swirls and twirls of magic
    Upon brunette hair.
    Warmth and cupcakes
    She loves to bake,
Sweet smells wafting into her nose:
    Cinnamon, vanilla, pumpkin, caramel,
    Apple pie,
    Shortbread pie crust.
    The wind carries the leaves
And they fall gently onto a soft bed of green lush
    Perfectly.
