Ty Dolla $ign, A-Trak & Lil B to perform at A&O Ball
By

Ty Dolla $ign will headline A&O Productions and For Members Only’s Ball 2018, with A-Trak and Lil B opening, at the Riviera Theatre on Friday, May 4. Northwestern DJ ensemble DIAL UP will perform between sets.

DJ A-Trak (born Alain Macklovitch) worked for years as Kanye West’s tour DJ, later founding the record label Fool’s Gold in 2007. Fool’s Gold developed the careers of artists like Kid Cudi, Danny Brown and Flosstradamus. His group Duck Sauce with Armand Van Helden gained worldwide popularity for "Barbra Streisand" (of Just Dance 3 fame). He’s also collaborated with Jamie Lidell (“We All Fall Down”), Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt (“Push”) as well as with Quavo & Lil Yachty (“Believe”) and Cam’ron (“Dipsh*ts/Federal Reserve”). He has been nominated for 3 VMAs.

Born Brandon McCartney and also known as his alter ego The Based God, Lil B wrote his first Billboard 200 hit at the age of 15 with his group The Pack. He has recorded almost 3,000 songs and self-produced and directed hundreds of music videos. His “based” philosophy focuses on a positive lifestyle, as addressed in his book. He also kind of cursed James Harden in the 2015 NBA playoffs?

Grammy award-nominated Ty Dolla $ign (Tyrone Griffin Jr.), singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, has contributed production and writing to Kanye West’s “Real Friends” and “Fade," Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home” and Rihanna’s “FourFiveSeconds” (with Kanye West & Paul McCartney). He has also worked with Trey Songz (“Fumble”), B.o.B (“HeadBand (feat. 2 Chainz)”) and Wiz Khalifa & Snoop Dogg, whose "Young, Wild & Free (feat. Bruno Mars)” was nominated for a Grammy. Pitchfork called his BEACH HOUSE 3 album “a superbly refined collection of songs, carefully crafted and smartly cast.” The album appeared in the Top 15 on the Billboard 200 and in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

The show will start at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. and close at 9:45 p.m.

Busses will be provided to take students from campus to the venue, and back to campus after. Busses will begin loading at PLEX and the south end of Long Field at 6:30 p.m., with the last bus leaving at 7:45 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 30th. They are $10 and can be purchased on the Norris Box Office website, nbo.northwestern.edu.
