5 facts about the Scandal cast

    We heard from President Barack Obama during Block 1, so it’s only natural that we would begin to wrap up DM with President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) of hit TV show Scandal. The show's protagonist protagonist Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and First Lady Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) joined him. Put on your whitest pantsuit, pour out a glass of red and read on for some fun facts.

    1. Both Goldwyn and Young studied drama in England. Goldwyn went to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Young attended the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University.

    2. Washington is related to former Secretary of State Colin Powell through her mother’s side.

    3. Goldwyn and Young can sing! He played Captain von Trapp in a performance of The Sound of Music at Carnegie Hall in 2012. Most recently, he starred in Promises, Promises on Broadway from 2010 to 2011. Young was in a production of The Life on Broadway in 1997.

    4. Washington was accepted to both Yale University and Dartmouth College, but turned down both. Her alma mater is George Washington University.

    5. Goldwyn voiced Tarzan in Disney’s animated film, Tarzan.
