NU's "Top Chefs" raise more than $1,000 for DM
By

DM’s Top Chef competition raised $1,100 on Saturday with a turnout of about 150 students at the Now We’re Cookin’ culinary school in Evanston.

President Henry Bienen, ASG President Jon Webber and pastry chef Mary McMahon judged the dishes that fourteen student teams prepared from $25 of Whole Foods merchandise.

Team Ratatouille — Weinberg seniors Dustin Liebling, Melanie Moss and Daphne Palmer, and Music senior Becky Fisher — won first place with a meal that included pan-seared scallops and honey-lemon poached pear. The evening’s required ingredient was honey, in honor of DM’s primary beneficiary, the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
